Think with your head, not your heart!
If you’ve been in an impossible dilemma, then this statement has made it to your doorstep. As true as this may sounds, it doesn’t give a lot of credit to the heart’s decision making.
Our heart’s ability to make smart choices is a back bone of most relationships.
Our minds may create a logical pattern, and bring forth the big Why or Why Nots, which we find reasonable. But the heart gets little or no credit for anything when it comes to making decisions.
When we first meet someone or when something happens, the heart makes a statement. From a fast beat to a quick shock. It emits information to us in varied ways.
This explains why there are people you connect with from the first day, but can’t really find a logical explanation for it. You just know in your heart, “A” is a kind person; even though you haven’t witnessed any act of kindness exuded and vice versa.
Some call this “knowing” without reason “instinct”. I just think it is our heart telling us things our minds can’t grasp at the moment.
When we go through hard times, especially those that affect our emotional state, our first though is “the heart can’t handle this”.
Apart from those with chronic heart disease, the heart can support more than we permit it to.
We see this every day, from those who walk through broken relationships, to those who forgive their loved ones murderer , and people who survive disasters that take away priceless possessions.
The above scenarios are instances which set the heart to the highest levels of pain. Worst things than these happen to people, yet, the heart finds a way to live through it all. It finds a “survival ground” and sustains itself.
Remember that time you were about to get into an argument and your heart won’t stop beating abnormally, or when you felt that sharp pain in your chest while climbing the stairs, what about the day your heart skipped a bit when your gaze fell on someone you liked?
These and many others are ways in which our hearts speak to us. The question is how keen are we to it’s signs?
Truly, a time comes when one has to set aside heart feelings and lean towards what the head has to say.
While doing that, try not to ignore the heart entirely, it has more to give than we are open to receive.
Trust your heart everyday, She is smarter than you think.
